Mike Dame, President and CEO
Mike leverages more than three decades of experience in communications and marketing across the healthcare, higher education and news media industries. He served six years as Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Carilion Clinic, an integrated healthcare system headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia. During his 14 years at Carilion, Mike’s teams delivered market-leading results, winning multiple local, state and national awards across disciplines.
Mike started his professional life as a sportswriter for the Orlando Sentinel (a Tribune newspaper), serving as beat writer for the Florida Gators, Jacksonville Jaguars and NASCAR. During that stretch, Mike was a voter for the Heisman Trophy, AP College Football Poll and Naismith Awards. Later, he held several managerial roles in the Sentinel’s digital division (Tribune Interactive) before becoming Director of Web Communications at Virginia Tech. While there, in the wake of the April 16, 2007, mass shooting tragedy, Mike guided the university’s online communications and spoke frequently about his experiences at conferences as far away as London, England.
Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Florida and an MBA from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College.

Valeria Alphin, Vice President
Valeria has been a full-time Virginia REALTOR® since 2006, and a real estate investor since 2004. During her career she has worked with a variety of clients including real estate developers, relocation clients, first-time home buyers, move-up/downsize buyers, estate sales, and foreclosures. Valeria has facilitated commercial, multi-family, retail and single-family real estate transactions and leases, including warehouse-to-residential and apartment-to-condominium conversions, as well as residential, restaurant and retail leases and property management services.
Valeria is a 2021 Graduate of the REALTOR® Institute (GRI) who has gained in-depth knowledge on technical subjects as well as the fundamentals of real estate. She also is a 2017 graduate of the Virginia REALTORS® Association’s Virginia Leadership Academy (VLA). Each year, Virginia REALTORS® selects promising leaders to participate in the VLA program through a competitive application process that prioritizes professional achievement in the real estate industry and community leadership. Valeria was one of only 12 applicants from across the state accepted into VLA’s 2017 class.
A recognized leader, Valeria served three years on the City of Roanoke’s Board of Zoning Appeals. She is past-president of the Greater Deyerle Neighborhood Association and Mountain View Neighborhood Association, both in Roanoke.
